“Spring Morning” – Limited Edition Lighthouse Print | Coastal Maine Watercolor Wall Art
Limited Edition Print
16” x 20”
Available - Limited Edition
“Spring Morning” is a watercolor painting taken from a 1910 photo of the lighthouse in Castine, Maine. While the structure looks very different today, I loved this composition. It reminds me of what Maine looked like years ago.
I love to paint scenes that are not typical. In this piece, I could have taken the very grainy washed-out photo, I could have painted the bright colors of a Maine summer at the water’s edge - but as anyone who’s lived in Maine can tell you, that is a very short-lived window for Maine. I decided to represent the spring, where flowers are just getting started, and hoping snow doesn’t come back as it often does. I wanted the color of the grass before it gets its color back. For me, it represents Maine on the water more than a lovely warm sunny afternoon. This is the time people who live in Maine can peacefully take a short trip out and enjoy the peace and perspective of the scene without a crowd of other people joining them in it. It is an opportunity to more personally interact with and experience the moment. I also love to paint subjects in ways that I find more authentic and are often unique. I hope you enjoy the perspective and feeling I bring with this piece.
Each print is produced as part of a fixed, limited edition of 100 and is individually signed and numbered by the artist. Once an edition is fully collected, it is permanently closed and not reproduced.
The work is printed on 315 gsm (20 mil) 100% cotton rag, an archival fine art paper selected for its ability to retain tonal depth and subtle variation. The surface has a soft, matte texture with a natural warmth that closely reflects the character of the original watercolor.
Each print is prepared in the studio and presented matted in white with a rigid backing, then enclosed in protective, weather-resistant packaging for shipment.
A certificate of authenticity accompanies every piece, verifying its place within the edition and including a unique identifying number recorded by the artist.
As editions close over time, each print becomes part of a finite body of work held in private collections.
