Frequently asked questions.

Frequently Asked Questions

∗ Do you accept commissioned projects? How does that work?

Yes! I have a page on my website here where you can reach out and inquire about commissioning a piece.  We can have an introductory conversation about what it is that you are looking for, and discuss the subject, substrate, size, colors, look and feel, etc. If we both agree to move forward, I will develop a total price for the piece, and we can complete a contract for the work. There is a 50% non-refundable deposit upon starting and will provide you with a look at the finished piece before shipping. I will allow one iteration of minor adjustments under the contract. Once the work is complete, the remaining balance can be paid, and the piece will then be packaged and shipped to you. If you choose, I can also have the piece framed at an additional cost prior to shipment, so that the piece arrives ready to hang. All artwork is expertly packaged and insured for shipment. Commissions are not returnable once received.

* Do you have a newsletter subscription form?

Yes! You can reach out here and I will include you on news and updates, including new finished pieces, art shows, and other events!

∗ What are your payment terms?

I take all major credit cards, as well as Klarna and PayPal.

∗ Do you offer installment payment plans?

Both Klarna and PayPal offer installment options if that works best for you.

∗ How long does it take to receive my order? What is your process?

Once an order is received, I will begin processing it for shipping. This includes an inspection to ensure the painting and frame (only original paintings are shipped framed unless otherwise previously coordinated – limited edition prints come matted) are properly packaged, padded, and protected for shipment. I take this part of the process very seriously, so that I know when a painting or limited edition print leaves my studio, it will arrive at its forever home safely, and ready to unpack, hang, and enjoy. Original paintings will arrive framed and wired. Frames will be backed and have bumpers on the bottom corners. Paintings will arrive with a certificate of authenticity, thank you card, a write-up about the painting mounted on the back. The inspection/ packaging process will take up to one week so I can make sure everything is as it should be when it leaves the studio. All orders are shipped UPS ground unless otherwise previously coordinated. Once the order ships, you will be notified with the shipping and tracking information. Shipping typically can take up to another week, so orders can take up to two weeks to arrive unless otherwise previously coordinated.

∗ How much does shipping cost? What shipping options do you offer?

Shipping costs for orders within the United States are included in the painting/ print price. International orders will include an additional fee for shipping outside the United States. Orders are shipped through UPS Ground. If you prefer to use a different method, just reach out to us and we will work together to meet your needs.

∗ Do you have a return policy?

Policy for the Return of Originals and Limited-Edition Prints

I am always happy to discuss opportunities to work with others.

* Do you accept visitors at your studio?

I can accept visits at my home studio by appointment.

∗ Do you rent or lease your art and what are your fees?

While I have not had the opportunity to do so, I would be open to having that discussion. Just reach out and we can see how we might work together.

* Do you use archival, environmentally friendly materials?

I do use archival materials, and I make every effort to use environmentally friendly materials and practices. My materials are all professional grade paints by Daniel Smith, Da Vinci, Schminke, Windsor and Newton, and Holbein. I do use one student grade pigment by Van Gogh (Raw Umber) because it has a wonderful intensity, and it is unique in its hue to get me a perfect mix for New England landscapes and seascapes. But that is the only student grade pigment I use. For other materials, I use paper from Arches and Fabriano. For my canvases, I prepare them with Gesso from Golden, and watercolor ground from Daniel Smith. My Fixative (to preserve watercolor paintings not under glass, I use SpectraFix FinalFix Advanced Fixative.

∗ If you print limited editions of your originals, what is the size of the edition?

This information is unique to each print and can be found in the product descriptions for each piece on the website.

∗ Does your artwork come with a certificate of authenticity?

Yes! Each original piece and each limited-edition print is shipped with a Certificate of Authenticity, with a unique numbered holographic sticker. These stickers are affixed to the certificate, which also denotes the date the artwork was completed, and the number of the print. I keep the sister to each numbered sticker in a master inventory of everything I sell, so if there is a question regarding authenticity of an original print or painting, I can clarify referencing my records.

* Do you help customers with the selection of frames for your artwork?

I am more than happy to help customers with matting or framing options if they like. I typically will frame all originals in a solid maple floating frame, so it arrives ready to hang in its forever home. However, if you prefer something different, just reach out and I have framers who can assist. Please bear in mind that this will require additional cost and time to fulfill, but I will not charge any markups for framing. What I charge is what the framers charge me. Please be sure to reach out prior to purchasing so that we can coordinate and we are on the same page with regard to the finished product, and the framing/ packaging/ shipping schedule. I want to make sure you know what to expect, and when you can expect your artwork to arrive.

Limited edition prints typically will come in a white mat. I also will include the certificate of authenticity as well.

* How and when should interested customers contact you?

I am always available at my email: dmcphee@littleriverartworks.com, or you can also call me at (802) 585 6985. I will respond within 24 hours. You can also contact us here.
