This is the view from my family's home in Ocean Point, Maine in 2017.
It's where I grew up. Where I learned to lobster with my father and brothers. Where we worked on boats and lobster traps, painted buoys, held lobster bakes, and spent countless days on the water. Years later, it also became the place where Megan and I were married. This painting isn't about any one of those memories. It's about the feeling of the place that holds all of them for me.
On certain winter mornings, warmer air drifts across the snow and cold water, wrapping everything in a quiet fog. Colors soften. Sound carries farther than you expect. Somewhere out beyond the mist, you can hear a lighthouse sounding across the harbor.
In moments like that, everything seems connected. Whenever I look at this painting, I find myself back there—not remembering one particular day but remembering what it feels like to belong to a place.
I hope it brings you that same sense of peace and perspective.
