Some paintings begin with a place. Others begin with a desire to explore.
Night Sail started with a reference photograph, but as I painted it, the image gradually became something different. I found myself less interested in faithfully reproducing the scene and more interested in exploring the atmosphere through watercolor itself.
As the pigments settled and granulated across the sky, they created an effect I hadn't anticipated but immediately loved. The muted lavenders, soft blues, and quiet transitions became the heart of the painting, creating a calm evening that felt more emotional than literal.
It was one of those rare paintings where I found a creative flow and simply followed where the watercolor wanted to go. That experience has stayed with me, and I've returned to this palette in several paintings since because of the peaceful feeling it evokes.
The original 24" × 48" watercolor on canvas remains one of my favorite paintings I've created. I'm pleased to offer it as a limited edition print for collectors who enjoy those quiet moments on the water where color, light, and atmosphere become the story.
Collector Information
Each print is produced as part of a fixed, limited edition of 100 and is individually signed and numbered by the artist. Once an edition is fully collected, it is permanently closed and not reproduced.
Printed on Arches Aquarelle Rag 310 - a 100% cotton archival paper produced by Arches, one of France's historic papermakers with a tradition dating back more than 500 years. The print is created using Canon Lucia archival pigment inks rated for more than 100 years of display life. The surface has a soft, matte texture with a natural warmth that closely reflects the character of the original watercolor.
Each print is prepared in the studio and presented professionally matted in white with a rigid backing, then enclosed in protective, weather-resistant packaging for shipment. Each print is professionally matted to fit a 20” x 40” frame.
A certificate of authenticity accompanies every piece, verifying its place within the edition and including a unique identifying number recorded by the artist.
