There comes a moment on the water when the day begins to wind down and every boat makes the same turn.
Toward home.
The sails are still full, the wind is still pushing, but the destination is no longer uncertain. The course has been chosen, and all that remains is the quiet satisfaction of the journey back.
I painted this thinking about Maine, where evenings on the water often ended beneath skies like this—violet overhead, green water below, and boats disappearing one by one toward familiar harbors.
Home isn't always a place. Sometimes it's the feeling of knowing where you're headed.
Medium & Materials
Painted with professional-grade watercolor pigments on prepared canvas. The surface is built through multiple layers of gesso followed by several coats of watercolor ground, sanded between applications to create a refined painting surface. The finished work is protected with archival spray varnish and presented in a solid maple floating frame, ready to hang.
